Successful E-Books

Saturday, June 23rd, 2007

E-books are not just for authors without a publisher.  E-books are a great way to boost affiliate profits and provide a free gift for your site visitors.  Whatever your site’s purpose, an e-book is an easy way to promote your product(s), impress cusomters, and keep em’ coming back.

Before you break out the quill pen (or equivalent font) and plan on writing a novella, there are some easy things to remember that will enable you to  obtain a great ebook.  Most do not write their own e-books but rather obtain them from other companies that allow the books to be branded in a way that will promote their site.  Branding an e-book simply requires you to add product links and create content relative to your site.  A successful affiliate will find the sites to advertise the ebook that one, draws people attracted to free products, and two, find the information relevant.  Several e-books available are online oriented and describe ways to make money via the internet - a subjectmatter relevant to many online searches.

If you’re going to write your own e-book there are painiess ways to do it  quickly and for free.  An e-book search will provide several links to free templates, as well as leads to free content.  It’s important to read the fine lines when it comes to re-distributing free content, but rest assured, it’s a common practice and won’t get you in trouble if done correctly.

So while you may not be ready to write the next best-seller, an e-book is a great way to boost profits and expand your marketing reach.

Smart Vote

Monday, June 18th, 2007

As the political season heats up and Democratic, Republican, and every other party candidate in between revs their respective campaigns, it apparent the internet plays a dominant role in the way messages are communicated to the construction of a politician’s overall public persona.

One important factor to examine is the impact a strategic performance based marketing campaign has on expanding a candidate’s breadth and garnering positive publicity in an often uncontrollable medium.  While Hillary’s campaign managers found YouTube might not be the best forum to promote a candidate – using popular social sites, as well as strategically outfitted yet seemingly more subtle internet operations are effective and catch fire like a Beyonce/Barack association.

What can politicians gain from effectively using the internet to promote their platforms?  That green stuff – and we’re not talking about a Nader party affiliation.  Not only can politicians save big bucks by using the internet to spread their reach (forget the traveling circus – post a video blog!) – they can collect it via the internet as well.  Internet donations are not a new phenomenon, but are one of the more popular ways to contribute to a campaign as people become more comfortable spending money online.

Political MySpace.com pages are ubiquitous, and tech savvy campaign managers target ‘friends’ like any strategic marketer would do, creating newsletters, blogs, videos, podcasts, and open discussion forums to encourage talk and eventually develop an online following that will lead to future votes.

School’s Out for the Summer - but not the Computer

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

Summer.  The beach, the barbeques, the burns, and of course the internet.  Staying inside and working on the old computer will not only provide time away from those harmful UV rays, but ample time to take advantage of savvy summer online stuff seasonal banner ads, summer fashion, and kids’ camps.

The change in season (and albeit a popular one) brings plenty of affiliate options.  For example, consider the typical summer interests and online opportunity.   Summer is primetime for vacations, picnics, outdoor sports, summer romance (think ‘Grease’) and so much more.  From an affiliate’s perspective, it’s a great way to hone niche strategies and target a new market.

Another potential opportunity? Summer discounts.  For some reason (perhaps statistics), summer is known as the slow season for affiliate marketing.  There are several promotions available now - and technically it’s still spring.
